Next-generation, high volume technologies for Central Fill
and Mail Order sites

Our Large/Custom systems offer customized, next-generation designs for larger central fill/mail order sites. Due to the sheer volume of prescriptions to be filled and distributed, the systems employ the most technologically advanced pharmacy automation, conveying, and packaging/shipping available in the industry today.

Taking High Volume to a New Level

Vial/Bottle/Cap Delivery

Vial/Bottle Delivery comprises various components to supply the appropriate vial/bottle size for each prescription. Vial/Bottle Hoppers store the vial/bottle sizes for processing. The Vial/Bottle Queue provides the specific size vial/bottle for each order. Cap Delivery stores and feeds the appropriate vial/bottle cap sizes. The Labeler prints bar coded labels for all orders to be robotically filled. Vial/Bottle/Cap Transport delivers vials/bottle via a pneumatic tube to the appropriate robotic dispensing system.

Robotic Dispensing

Depending on your overall requirements, we can design your system using any of our robotic dispensing systems:

  • PharmASSIST RDSx is an enclosed pod dispensing system that includes a FANUC® robot, 80 dispensers, a printer, a USB camera (for internal imaging), and an automatic capping device. Each RDSx fills up to 300 Rxs/hour.
  • Our RDS robotic dispensing system is an enclosed pod configuration that includes a FANUC® robot, 350 dispensers, a printer, a USB camera (for internal imaging), and an automatic capping device. Each RDS fills up to 300 Rxs/hour.
  • PharmASSIST ROBOTx HLR is a linear robot that includes a robotic gantry, 140 dispensers, and an input queue to receive vials and totes. Each ROBOTx HLR fills up to 240 Rxs/hour.

You can also incorporate our cabinet-based counting technology for “manual filling.”

For all cabinet-based and robotic systems, you an optionally add our Canister replenishment technology to automatically replenish dispensers.

Internal Imaging

The RDSx and RDS systems include a USB camera that takes an image of the filled vial contents and stores the image for use at the verification workstation. The system also offers a remote PV2 option to help reduce pharmacists on site.

Packing/Shipping

Our designs offer a variety of manual and automated options based on your requirements for transporting, patient paperwork printing, packing and shipping of “singles” (individual vials or bottles), totes with multiple prescriptions and unit-of-use items.

Conveying

The multi-tiered conveying system has the capability to convey both single vials/bottles and totes, and employs RFID technology, enabling efficient and orderly transport and traffic management to your robotic dispensing, Symphony workstations, packaging, and shipping. RFID tags communicate with Symphony to facilitate real-time Rx tracking for all prescriptions.

Symphony Workflow

PharmASSIST Symphony for High Volume serves as the operations control center for your system. Symphony tracks virtually every event in the system, and includes a customer-specific dashboard that provides real-time status and full visibility into your site’s daily activity. Symphony’s information management and reporting tools help you tightly manage and optimize the performance of your system and staff on an ongoing basis. The system includes Symphony workstations for manual filling, Rx verification, packing/shipping, and manifest.

Automated Collation

You can automatically collate all prescriptions filled in vials/bottles for each patient’s order using RxCollect™ robotic collation technology. The device collects all prescriptions for a given patient’s order and places the vials/bottles in the appropriate collation queue. Upon collecting all prescriptions for a patient’s order, RxCollect releases the queue of vials/bottles into a single awaiting prescription carrier unit (e.g., a tote), and the tote then moves to its next destination for continued processing. You can add RxCollect to any new high-volume pharmacy design or to any existing high-volume pharmacy system (Innovation or non-Innovation) with minimal disruption of operations.

Scalable

Large/Custom designs are totally flexible and are customized to your operational, prescription volume, and physical space requirements. We can employ our sophisticated Pharmacy Intelligence (process simulation) to design and prove out the workflow, layout, and projected scale prior to system build. Our seasoned team also can work with you on all other requested add-ons and will simulate, test, and present the impact of additional technologies, process changes, and so on prior to installation.

Pure Quality

Safety Protocols

PharmASSIST dispensing delivers unmatched counting accuracy, prevents unauthorized access, eliminates cross contamination, and prevents dispensing of expired medications. The PharmASSIST dispenser’s bar code-driven quality protocols for initial assignment, replenishment, and return-to-stock ensure complete accuracy and safety.

The Core Dispenser

The PharmASSIST dispenser is a wholly independent smart device that stores, counts, and dispenses virtually all tablet/capsule medications, all simultaneously. The dispenser self calibrates the counting of virtually all newly added medications, enabling your staff to add new medications to dispensers immediately and spend more time focused on your patients.

Pharmacy Intelligence

Our Pharmacy Intelligence gives you real answers before you invest by assessing your operational risks, optimizing your system design and processes, and accurately forecasting your results. You don’t incur the costs of implementing and then changing a live production system, which saves you invaluable time and resources and gives you complete confidence in your system design, growth path, and automation decisions.
