The business systems analyst is a key member of the Information Services (IS) department, providing analytical and technical support to all business departments. This position will function as a liaison between IT and the business areas and must possess a blend of both business and technical knowledge
- Develops and maintains an accurate understanding of business practices and in-depth knowledge of the IT applications that support them.
- Understands business priorities; gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements; working with the delivery team to deliver solutions; and coordinating/communicating with business stakeholders on testing/rollout.
- Reviews and evaluates organizational and user needs to assist in the creation and/or maintenance of software systems and solutions that support overall business strategies.
- Documents system requirements and system specifications that drive development and implementation of processes that support business functions.
- Works closely with other departments, key vendors and outside organizations to collaborate and increase functionality of business systems.
- Leads and executes project plans, target dates and other aspects of assigned IS projects/upgrades using standardized IS business practices and project methodology.
- Creates and manages statements of work, detailed work plans, project budgets, action logs and monthly project statuses. Ensures a smooth transition from project to support mode.
- Seeks and recommends new technologies or vendors to address specific business needs or to enhance integration practices. Continues to enhance personal knowledge of systems, integration technology, databases, and programming techniques and provides mentoring to other IS team members.
- Designs solutions with a focus on security, availability, and performance.
- Supports multiple systems providing in-depth documentation for those systems including the transitioning to operations and other support groups with complete support/training materials..
- Clearly documents all procedures and follows best practice change management for configuration changes to IS systems.
- Assists with disaster recovery planning, events, and the recovery of vital information.
- Works alone and with other IS staff to effectively troubleshoot problems reported by users and follow-up to ensure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
- Works with vendor support contacts as needed to resolve technical issues.

The business systems analyst does not currently have any supervisory responsibilities. Success in this position and growth in the department may lead to future supervisory responsibilites.
- Bachelor’s degree in related computer field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in related field.
- Experience in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products.
- Experience working with Microsoft data technologies including SQL Database Server.
- Experience working with Office 365 and Sharepoint.
- Experience working with CRM and ERP systems.
