Rick is a seasoned finance executive who leads Innovation’s finance and accounting activities. Serving as a strategic partner to the CEO, Rick focuses on return on invested capital, the cost of capital, and value creation.
Prior to joining Innovation, Rick served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Fred’s, a publicly traded, $2 billion retail pharmacy chain with more than 600 stores.
Previously, Rick served in senior finance, real estate, and treasury roles with Walgreen Company, ending with a six-year tenure as vice president, investor relations and finance. In that capacity, he provided strategic and financial recommendations to the CEO and CFO, and participated in the development and communication of financial strategy to both sell-side analysts and buy-side investors. He also served as trustee of Walgreens Profit Sharing Plan, with more than $2 billion in assets.
Rick holds an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds a master of science degree in material science and engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor of science in geology from the University of Wisconsin. Rick is also a CFA charterholder.
